[Milsurplus] Operating BC-1000 & PRC-25 together

Having used and worked on a lot of the VRC/PRC series radios I always
set the deviation to around 25 kHz, have not had the opportunity to deal
with a BC-1000 but have to wonder, what is the deviation supposed to be
set to? 40 KHz? The last several years a group of us have been taking
our radios out and having nets on 51.0 at different hamfest. someone
will always come up and want to educate me as to the fact that I cannot
use "those radio" on six because they are wide band and do not conform
to their idea of what permissible bandwidth should be. Having to work
with the FCC a lot I have come to think that occupied bandwidth of low
powered portable ham radios are not on top of the list for enforcement
action, but have to wonder what these want to be "OO" would think of the
BC-1000?
