[Milsurplus] GRC-103(V)

I ran across a couple parts of the GRC-103(V) this weekend at the 
fleamarket; viz. the R-1329 receiver unit and T-983 transmitter unit. 
These are evidently the parts in the lower left of this picture:

I am wondering whether anyone on the list has experience with this 
equipment and can tell me whether these units are useful in their own 
right? Is there any public documentation?

How difficult is it to find the amplifier, frequency multiplier 
(AM-43XX) units? Ironically, I picked up one of the dummy loads to this 
equipment last year from a different source so one wonders whether a 
bunch of this equipment was locally surplused.
