Hi Ken,

I have one and it works well, but not quite as easy to operate as the SX-28
it is patterned after. About the biggest problem is that it has no bandspread.
That being said, tuning a CW or SSB station can be a challenge. My receiver is
relatively stable after a good warmup. I don't use it for on the air work,
but it is fun SWL with. The fact that is is so long makes placing it difficult,
but since it is not used on the air, it can be placed anywhere there is room.
While recovering from knee surgery, I had it standing on end by my chair.
That worked well since I couldn't bend my knee for several weeks, making sitting
at my operating desk difficult.

If you have a line on an R-45/ARR-7 at a reasonable price, I would say pick
it up. To preserve it's value, try to find one that still has the motor drive,
scan limiting mechanism and cover intact. It is possible to use the scanning
function, but other than to tell if 15 or 10 is open, it is of little real use.
