hi jim, pete gerry in Nj. i have been following radio research for many
years, the founder was a guy now retired named paul plishner. i never
met him or visited him in their several other locations (since 1948 i
think) but went up to CT to visit the now president or manager ed doyle
because i won a manual he had bid on ebay. i got a very brief tour and
left after a short discussion.
they have never dealt with individuals, collectors and hams and i know
for a fact their prices are what you would call "very high" since i have
been buying surplus for 35 years from just about everybody in the
country who ever had it (including the notorious sam macintosh in FL,
and lots of other guys) i got quoted anywhere from 3500 to 12,500 for
the various units i asked about. so basically they deal with governments
and defense contractors who pay very high prices for the obsolete gear
they have.
i don't doubt the simplest item or manual they have would cost hundreds
of dollars to purchase because they have a lot of overhead and very
little sales except for big ticket items. believe me, i have been
scheming for years to figure out how to come up with the bucks to get
some of their stuff. perhaps if you sent in a purchase order with
payment they might respond. i hope this helps, regards, pete
