> Really neat to see /hear these (dc3s) active esp in the spring and
summer spraying the canals here eventhough it is 4 in the morning!
Same goes for the 3 ex-USN C131s aka Convair 330s @ Beaufort, SC's Frogmore
airport.
There's nothing like the sound of dual R2800s @ dawn.
Lucky dawg note. The gooney R1830s are LOUDER than the CV340s biggies
that have muffflers in their nacelle rear sections.
U might ask one of the gooney team that if, with a blanket release, you
could donate a big crew breakfast in return for a ride.

Gotta say dept. When approaching fm south CV330s throttled back passing
residential islands. Last one is Harbor Island that's across a 1.5 mi.
water reach to the airport's St. Helena island. As they appear around
Harbor you can see a black trail appear under each engine. They're
firewalled & climbing 'til St. Helena whereupon they throttle
back & 'coast' to the arpt.
Whatta sight 'n sound!
