Let me add a qualifier (aren't there always) after seeing Mike's post:
What I wrote holds, assuming we're talking about elements
both horizontal and vertical that are less than a tenth of a
wavelength.  If you're using 3105 KC on a P-40 with it's short,
"L" type antenna, it holds.  If you're larger than that or
at a much higher freq, a much more
complex relationship happens
(one I am not qualified to discuss; I do short stuff only ;-).
