If you are e going to the Dayton Hamfest this year you may want to take
time out to stop over at the Air Force Museum, They have a good display
along with artifacts from the "Lady Be Good" along with a lot of
printed material. I saw it last year while I was their. Also in the
Vietnam aria there is a Chevy box van, the MSR-1 radio intercept van
with its collection of Watkins Johnson receivers and discone antennas,
allegedly used for monitoring our own communications and then showing
skeptical commanders all their security breaches over clear channels.
Couple more thoughts on the LBG flight, what was the radio that was
removed and installed on the C-54? have read somewhere it was a ARC-1
but not cretin. And with all this alleged ability to search out
something as insignificant as a receiver LO how is it that reliable ADF
fixes cannot be obtained from a 100 watt transmitter over a period of
