A recent posting sez TRS-80 Mod. 1 (tag thot of later) was 1st.
Don't dispute it 1st big prod'n critter.
But a host of CP/M S100 things came ~1975. Like the Imsai & before it
the Altair. Then there was the Sphere, & Ohio Scientific, Ithaca,
ad naseum.
And they bring moolah. A complete system just fetched ~$2100 while a CPU
w/o cover ~$600. Shucks, I lost the site's url
An unanswered question is the origin of TRSDOS. Many wondered why CP/M
was absent.
Word Processing. First was Electric Pencil. Can never forget the nervous
flickering cursor. Bought a serial interface module for a Diablo daisywheel,
did a driver-lette, & everybody in the biz went to town. Who the heck
needed a Xerox Star WP anyway?
'Til Kaypros & WordStar(tle). Then comes the rest of desktop history
I know the hair-splitting on the 5100, the HP desktop series, etc.
But these were the big populist ones.
I close by repeating: how the h3!! did TRSDOS arise?
