In 1961 my parents visited relatives in Pasadena, California. This was an
extremely boring time for me. I took a walk down the main street there and
discovered, of all things, a surplus store, and one as only California could
have, or so i thought. I still recall now, a "government overhauled and repack"
BC-453 for $15; several new BC-1335 transceivers, and - a display of BC-611
chassis in a wood crates that reminded me of silvery fish, side by side, in a
fish market. Unfortunately, as in some dream of longing, i was flat broke,
and my parents saw no beauty in such stuff.
I also remember, you could see the air, in Pasadena. It was grey.
