"What can we direct to a Massachusetts company skilled building portable 
radios?"

The chuckled response was, "why a replacement for the BC-728 GE gas receiver"

Next thing ya know....

This came as an aside from my inquest into whatever inspired the fabrication
of those quad-sardine-can RS-6 sets.  The ones so covetously prized as 
spy radios (notice the echo).  

The RS-6s I surmise were fair-sized political pay-back.  And in that case,
who's finances were more easily hidden under a 'top secret procurement' 
charade.  Also since a 'top secret procurement,' it went right
around usual purchase & approval channels.

IE quid-pro-quo for a big campaign hand-out.

And who but Emerson is the guessed maker of RS-6s.*
