While the ARC-5 genus might be the "most-mod'd" in the sense of sheer numbers,
how about tweaking the category to mean *the most irreversable* mods? I'd think
something like the SCR-522, which would generally lose (literally) it's tuning
gear, never to be recovered, would be a more likely set to make you bang your
head on the desk ... also, I've got an ARB that's had it's connectors removed -
it's a daunting challenge to re-store something like that, tho at least they're
nominally available, unlike the mica insulator in the rear of the ARC-5 type
gear (which CAN be fabricated from something else, tho).
Any more nominations for most irreversable mod - besides things like TU's that
were parted out? (That happened to a LOT of gear that was not readily
Ham-usuable. I confess to scrapping out a radar o'scope about 25 years ago, and
I still scrap what was once very expensive t.e. that is in sufficiently poor
condition as to no longer have a market.)
