[Milsurplus] RS-1 to AN/GRC-109 to RS-6

Did the RS-1 "Suitcase Radio" evolve into the AN/GRC-109 (repackaged,
fully waterproof and could be buried) but basically contained the same
electronics using miniature tubes and the 2E26 ? I understand that the
AN/GRC-109 was used well into the 60's. Is the RS-6 then an "aircraft
use" version of the RS-1 (repackaged, uses the "pencil tubes" in the
receiver but the same 2E26 in the Tx) but the circuitry is again about
the same as the RS-1. All three appear to have many common points (basic
design, power source, loading, etc). Can someone give me a rundown
comparison of all 3 units. I would think all could/would be used for
Covert Ops.
