Looks like the real deal to me,
and that would "jibe" with some of the documentation
I've collected. Remember- The equipment that was
"official issue" wasn't always available.
Improvisation was the *rule,* not the exception,
especially early on as we have proven here many times.
The photo itself shows that they would do the "unofficial,"
since that's a BC-222 with a handset. I don't blame them;
the microphone/headset would be a tangly mess in combat.
There would have been lots of handsets available, because
as far as I have been able to tell, the BC-322 did not
see action beyond training. Of course, that assumption
could fall with the next batch of docs and letters I find.
