As long as we are on the subject of tubes, the R-392 has no high voltage
or at least in a sense that I understand B+ in vacuum tube radios. The
24 volt input is used to feed all the plate and screen circuits. I do
remember that it used a special audio output tube , the 26A6 but do not
remember if it used regular cutoff pentode ( 6BA6?) in all the other
stages or some special tube for working with the low voltage? has been a
while and I know they have a flock of tubes in them, just do not know
the number. also is their any other military radio, with the exception
of those strange little WW2 LF beacon receivers that used the same
trick?
