Jack I've heard this legend.  The 110 mc dual-tone 'localizer' was a Brit
invention to get Spits back thru the horrible wx.  It was given a copper-
plated steel cabinet for wreck-survival & reportedly there wsere lots.

The '733 SCR-something book sez the dual-pointer I-something-else display
uses the vertical pointer for L & R.  The horizontal pointer was
for later use.

Guess what that was?  The 335 mcs ARN-5 which I hear 1st saw svc. on the
last ww2 B29s.  Worked like 110 in that 2 TXs/yagis at field.

So a B29 like CAF's Fifi wud be full IFR today if localizer & glide-slope
rxs properly xtal'd for an airport.

I wonder if this'll cause as big a stir as D-day 2-way, er "commos."
