Yes, the BC-610 had a kit to extend the PA and tuner
to the upper end of the broadcast band.  They were
used by Armed Forces Network, and I've had them in
Homing Beacon service for aircraft.  "Aerophares" .
Trivia:  On one or more of the aircraft DF sets there
was a band switch.  One band covered LF 200 - 400 KHZ,
and next band up covered broadcast and whatever.  Where
the air traffic control enviroment required the pilot
to switch quickly from one homing beacon to another, the
frequency for the LF beacon and the frequency for the
upper broadcast band would be selected so that the pilot
could use only the band switch to switch beacons.  This
was outside the US.  On Okinawa in 1963 I put a BC-610
on about 1600 KHz for the Air Division to use as an
"alert" signal.  The off-base troops were supposed to
leave a radio on, and the BC-610 played some music for
a while.  After that the BC-610 was quiet until the
