I've met hams who were in the ETO that used the SCR-399 setup for ham comms late in the war also.  Sed it was a lot of fun and with props good, WOW.

They must have also used them to set up some sort of broadcast type service as i have a tuning unit for the 610 that covers 1.0-1.5 Mc.  Like new condx.
