Altho most of these you see are ham-butchered, it shouldn't be too
difficult to pad them down to 6 meters. I too think they're nice looking
and interesting but the combo of  crystal control + vhf is too much
of a negative interest factor.
One of the strangest conversions i have seen was one with dial pulleys
and dial cord, etc. etc. on the front panel, yes, on the front of the front
panel. I think somehow the cords turned the trimmer capacitors or some-
thing like that.  The fellow castigated me for being a "senile fogey" for
thinking this was an ugly abortion and that conversion made something
useful out of it. Well congrats, pal, when your time comes to exit, you've
created a work of trash, dumpster-ready. Like there's a lack of vhf radios
already around.
