One other caveat - Be careful of the L di/dt factor. That is if you put
a DC current through the choke and remove it suddenly you can get a very
nasty voltage spike. Low range ohm meters have been know to get zapped
when they were used to measure the DC resistance of a large choke on the
X1 scale and then the leads are removed. The voltage spike could be
enough to arc inside the meter and blow its pc board.
Don't ask how I know :-) Took me a long time to repair the Simpson 260.
