I just found my manuals for the AVT-111 and the AVR-100. Surely enough, the
AVR-100 (among other receivers) was intended for use with the AVA-126
vibrator supply that the AVT-111 used (or it could use a dry battery
supply). The AVT-111 and AVR-100, both supplied by the AVA-126, would have
been an appropriate combo. Plus, there was a dry battery version of the
AVT-111, called the AVT-110. It had 1.5 watts out on 3105 kc vs. 6 watts
for the -111. I'll bet that had some range!
RCA light aircraft receivers (AVR-15, -20, -100, etc.) and transmitters
(AVT-112, -111, etc.) seem to show up frequently at hamfests and ebay. But
not the vibrator supply AVA-126. I've only seen two on auction in four
years, and none at hamfests. I wonder where they all went, since the
associated radios are still easily found.
