John & Group,

Both the C-410 and JB-47 split when you remove the four external screws. The
input and output cables are captured by grooves molded in the bakelite of
both halves. Inside both junction units are four terminal screws that the spade
lugs on the ends of the CD-620 and the output cable are attached with. In the
C-410, the transformer is potted between the two input and two output
terminals. The JB-47 is thinner than the C-410 and flat top and bottom.

The replacement cable probably only has a SIG STK Number, not a CD-xxx or
CO-xxx nomenclature (opinion based on replacement cables for the T-17 and a few
others that I have or have seen) but I don't have the number.

I've wondered about that "-U" as well. I have the original box right here
for an HS-30-U (I think I used the headset in one of my sets). Order No.
5846-Phila-44 by Sonotone Corporation. Other than the "U", the next highest suffix
letter I've seen on HS-30's is "F". That's a bunch of revision letters for
the Signal Corps to have skipped! The only guess I could put forward is that
they (the Signal Corps) started off to assign suffix letters by Contractor,
sorta like they did with the BC-221's, but didn't go far with the idea. Or there
are a bunch of letters that I've never seen. It would be interesting to learn
whether the CD-620-U on eBay was made by Sonotone.
