Marty, the association of an "RT-21" with an "APX-21" doesn't seem right.
Are you sure of the nomenclature?
Chesson at http://pages.cthome.net/fwc/RAD-BEAC.HTM assigns the RT-21 to the
AN/APN-7, and another page on the the web site you reference,
http://pages.cthome.net/fwc/RAD-BEAC.HTM, says the APN-7 was an S-band
beacon used with the AN/APS-2.
In the JAN nomenclature system, no production components would have
duplicated numbers, i.e., there's only one component in all the JAN system
that would be assigned "RT-21."
I bet William Donzelli will be able to shed light. I recall he also posted
recently about some *pre-production* JAN components that initially had RT-
numbers assigned that duplicated those on other JAN components. Could your
unit be such a pre-production unit?
