[Milsurplus] Harris RF-301

Hi

The RF-301 is a nice radio. Not terribly modern though. It was on the
market at the same time as the Heathkit SB-301/401. That made for a
number of interesting observations about the cost of the Heathkit
versus the Harris.

The RF-301 was used by the US Marine Corps as a standard radio. It was
also a staple in the export business primarily to Africa and the Middle
East. Nigeria and Saudi Arabia were major customers if I remember
correctly.

The radio is part tube and part solid state. The main knock on it as a
ham radio is the tuning approach. Most hams prefer a single tuning knob
rather than the multi knob approach.

The antenna match for the radio was in a separate box. If you are going
to use the radio I would recommend making sure it comes with the
antenna tuner.

	Take Care!
