Just to add another clown to the Navy's nomenclature circus-
When Aircraft Radio Corp. produced the first
"GF/RU" set in 1932, BOTH the transmitter and receiver
were nomenclatured together in a set as "GF."
The receiver was only "RU" when used alone.
They seperated them into "GF-1" and "RU-2"
in 1934. The "RU-1" was the receiver from the
previous "GF" set, when used alone.
How's *that* for loopy?
