Having owned a TBS for 40+ years (it's now on the Haida) I have trouble seeing it as a 24/7 set. Brick outhouse, yes, but excessively complicated and primitive, even for it's day.  A great deal of iron for a single channel, rock bound, short range radio in the 60 to 80 MHz band for use between ships. The functional equivalent of a command set, rather than a liaison set.
