I think as a general rule, the British tend to be
non-conformists with everyone else in the world. Not
necessarily a bad thing, except when you try to export
your goods to countries with opposite standards.

The British cars are right hand drive and have the
slow lane is on the left. As opposed to American
cars(and other European) which left hand drive and
have the slow lane is on the right.

A pilot friend, told me that propellers turn the
opposite direction (I forgot if it was clockwise or
counter-clockwise) on British made planes compared to
planes made everywhere else in the world.

The British have their own televion standard (PAL),
before that I think they had another unique standard
that used 441 scanning lines. 

I actually like power "down" on my homebrew equipment,
but insist on power "up" on my home light switches.
