    GRC-27 could be quasi portable in an air-control shelter and there were
a grunch on Naval Air Stations and shipboard. My Navy training was strictly
OJT. Once you got passed the wiring for the tuning HOOO-HAWW it had a good
transmitter and receiver. The AN/SSR-1 Navy satellite system was based on
the Jerk-27...the designer, James Pohl, sited spectural purity as the
reason.
