[Milsurplus] What a "Grate" Idea

Whilst pondering what to do with my Green Radios that must soon leave my
hands, there are on occassion valid reasons for some splinters: EG: MARS
operators as they know and do things other Hams do not. With OPSEC concerns
high at present, it would present concerns if too much got 'out', so we keep
a separate moderated list from the rest of the community.....

I understand the sentiment to not participate in the Balkanization of the
hobby's active members. On the other hand, if there are some who can take
the time to monitor the splinter groups, it seems it would be in the
interest of the wider community to have 'an ear & a voice' in them. Those
monitors can direct attention to the larger community for the splinter
members who might be unaware. They may also direct splinter members to the
wider groups when the splinters begin to fail. It would have to be a 'labor
of love' for the hobby, though.

For my own opinion on messages, I would prefer a busy group where I might
have dozens of messages per day to skip & delete. For one thing, that tells
me that there is a good reservoir of experts for whatever problem I may
come up with & need help. And with so much activity, there will almost
always be some messages that I want to read, too.
