First, 'scusa me for entering a week-old thread.

I'm entering with a contribution on the SCR-183, something I know is dear
to everyone's heart.

Have BC-230 tx part running here on it's BD-83 dyno which for all the
world sounds like the bionic woman's hair dryer.

Key B+ for CW & on key-up, dump dyno into a 4000 ohm 50 watt resistor.
Ouch, hot.

But thing runs w/o a chirp.

When this done, I assumed rig was MCW (A2) & needed this treatment. Note the
BC229 RX has no BFO. WRONG, MCW and CW were options & TO-08-10-158 says so
noting CW can only get heard on an 'oscillating rx.'

Further this 4K resistor is a re-invention of the wheel since resistor 143
in the unobtanium system junction box appears to do the same thing.

Pretty smart fellers back in the early 30s I'd say
