Wim, George, et al,
It's my opinion, Dachis notwithstanding, that most S-27's and S-36's were
bought or at least acquired and used by the Signal Corps (and to a lesser degree
the Navy) as countermeasures receivers. In which case, the LS-3 would be
appropriate. The Signal Corps nomenclature was BC-787-(*)
BC-787-A = S-27 & possibly also S-36
don't have a cross for S-27B. It appears to be the only one of the bunch
with a significantly different coverage.
BC-787-B = S-36
BC-787-C = S-36A (I have one of these)
Can't turn up the Navy nomenclature right now. Apparently I failed to enter
a reverse cross-ref record into my database when I entered the forward ref.
There was an ER article that covered the S-27 and S-36 maybe a couple of
years back. I don't have the ER index online here. Need to rectify that.
