Sounds to me like you have a VHF set built in the UK. Just like many of the BC-639/BC-640
sets which were also of UK origin. It has been brought up before that the US wanted
nothing to do with VHF and the guy who designed the BC639/BC640 went to the UK and they
bought the design. There after many of the units were built under license in the US and
show the crown indicating they are of UK origin. The Army AF wanted to stick their
HF AM equipment until the start of the war and saw how well the VHF worked for the RAF.
