I have modified several PRC-47's for LSB and yes as John stated if you desire
USB and LSB operation you will need to align the IF which requires construction
or acquiring a module extender. You should try to obtain filters that possess
the same characteristics(i.e. they both match) otherwise you will wind up with
an imbalance. But you can just sub the new filter and give it a try but you will
probably wind up with reduced output.
For USB and LSB operations you will need a very small reed relay and switch the
output sides of two filters. You parallel the inputs. Most folks use the
Power/Light control to switch the relay for this function.
I have been working on injecting a different carrier frequency, i.e. about 3
kcs lower which forces the filter to to now pass the LSB but have not finished
testing, but now of course the frequency window is in error by 3 kcs but I
personally do not find this a problem. . . if I would stop playing around with
all the WWII stuff I would finish all my other projects.
FYI---- I have published an easy incremental tuning for the PRC-47, which has
been tested, is extremely stable, is reversible and requires very few parts
