Hue,
if you look in Wireless for the Warrior you will see a picture of a WS53
(large 250W output Tx) with a R109 or R209 in the back of a Willys Jeep
(Vol.2 page 53-32), with a trailer to hold the mains generator required to
power the station. So high power stations were possible in very small
vehicles - and these were used in South East Asia towards the end of WWII.
The R209 replaced the R107 during WWII, and is undoubtedly a remarkable
piece of innovation, far in advance of anything the US produced that I am
aware of. You only have to look at the modular construction, the hermetic
sealing, its small size and weight, the rugged diecast case and the ease of
operation to see that this is a remarkable set for its time. The R107 -
good as it was - could only be swept aside by such a startling newcomer!
The R107 was obsolete by the end of WWII, but the R107 went through several
marks, and continued on well into the 1960's.

The R-107 was in small vehicles? As well as frontline
emplacements? I mean regarding " mission-equivalent".

-How about the dial resolution and tuning rate, kc/s per
revolution, on both the R-107 and R-1155 ?
