Hey gang,
I just received in some excellent Miltary radio net shots taken by Mark
Francis KI0PF at the 2003 Dayton hamfest. Great job Mark, many thanks for
braving the rain to take the photos.
I've posted a zip file to my website http://www.qsl.net/w4xe/. If you are
interested to see them you can retrieve the files at this url:
http://www.qsl.net/w4xe/KI0PF.zip It is a little over 1 Megabyte.
They held two radio nets, the 3885 KC 'AM net' at 12 noon. Net control was
an excellent condition BC-654, ham powered by crank genny. (Weren't we just
talking about these...) Many radios were heard including DAV, PRC-70, a
Racal squadcal (on ssb) and of course many BC-611's. The second net at 2PM
was the 'Cold War' net on 51.0 MHz FM, with net control a prc-70. Checkins
filled up a page with prc-68 (and newer variants), prc-25, prc-10, prc-6,
sem-52 and various other rigs.
It was great to hear all of the ole radios alive and meet all of the folkes
involved, including members of this remailer. A lot of fun, even though it
rained the whole time.
Okay, for those of you wondering about yours truely, 2nd from the left on
bottom row sporting a boonie hat and bc-611 in the picxx.jpg AM group shots
and 3rd from left on bottom row with a prc-68 in FM cwxx.jpg files. What a
mug.
73's all,
