Have been following this thread with some interest due to my experiences
with aircraft and marine DF units.
Was thumbing thru an old TM I acquired and found diagrams on a BC-973-A and
a BC-1003-A. Both units schematics appear to be nearly identical. Both show
a loop and sense antenna, unfortunately there are no pictures and little
other info.
This manual TM11-310 is titled "Schematic diagrams for maintenance of ground
radio communications sets. I have the original issue and changes 1 thru 8.
It covers field repairs of many of the radios of WWll. It covers
preventative maintenance and field repairs. Change 4 is particularly
interesting as it has a VT/commercial tube section and cross reference. It
also has info on how to read all the old color codes on different types of
capacitors and resistors and some really neat troubleshooting tips.
I have scanned section 4, also a 1937 Kenyon transformer and transmitter
manual. The charts and nomographs in the back of this are priceless. Also
included is an Alliance rotor manual covering about a dozen of their rotors.
I am going to offer this soon for just enough to cover cost of materials and
postage (and maybe a buck for my time).
I would like to copy the whole TM but it would take a lot of time and many
of the schematics are 11x17. However I bet they would clear up a lot of
questions about variations etc on a lot of models. Will list models later.
