Someone sed that with a SCR269 ADF & a ARN-5 glide-slope you had today's
"full ILS panel."

Well the BC733 108mcs localizer was omitted but, yes. At end of WW2
a B29 had all needed for today's ILS

Neat note outa '42 BC733 book is that I101 which showed horiz. line-up
on vertical needle. It sed horizontal (up-down) needle reserved for
future use. Well that was the 330mcs glide-slope that worked(s)
just like the 108mcs localizer.

BUT, b4 ARN5 u cud kinda-sorta use marker beacons to get on glide slope
as long as localizer there

So a 1945 B29 from Tinian cud do category 1 in 2003... if someone sneaked
a transponder aboard

      ----and---

B24s prolly coming outa Consolidated in '43 w. ADFs. But I'll bet
only RDFs were in field. I have hazy memory of reading LBG account
of "how pilot & navigator might have collaborated to see if they
were leaving beacon behind." But no details save author sed there
wasn't evidence of such collaboration.

Wonder if pilots as well as navigators knew the to-from / new-course
for direction procedure? If so, pilot AND navigator share blame.
