Marty & Group,

SCR-522 with the RA-62 AC supply is know as SCR-624.

USAAF VHF Fighter Control systems (including DF and SCR-575 (part of Net
Control System SCS-3) among dozens of others) are all covered in Volume 2 of the
Wright Field series that started with Airborne Radio Equipment Handbook. The
one on the VHF ground sets is "VHF Fighter Control Handbook". The radios
themselves are all BC-639's, BC-640's and SCR-624's (or SCR-522's in one or two of
the Mobile DF stations). Like the first volume, the handbook is an overview,
with photos and equipment lists but no schematics or maintenance info. Both
are available. BTW, if you check the parts list for SCR-575, you will see that
although the BC-639's are AC operated, the RC-165 (BC-624 and BC-625) were
operated from a PE-94. Dunno why, unless they needed to be used when the
SCR-575 was being relocated (i.e., moving). The handbook covers the equipment
fairly well but is pretty slim on employment.

As an aside, SCR-624 was also used in some Fleet type submarines as a
replacement for AN/ARC-4.

Clete I just read about a SCR-575 for 1st time

Looks like SCR522, 110 supply, &BC639. Latter, I bet, with a VHF Adcock
antenna for DF, former for 2-way.

Didn't know that was airfield backbone for DF-ing 'til now
