This surprises me. I had always thought only models thru -C
were HF only. I don't think i decided this on my own, i think
i read it somewhere authoritative. I don't know about -D,
but look,  E,M,P are all covered by the same manual, right?
So the -E has LF coverage. 
The LF band has never been of any interest to me, so i've
always been partial to the HF-only ones. There is a slight
advantage of slightly better bandspreading, as there's 6
bands divided into 1.5 - 18 Mcs, not 5.
