Can you identify these air-variable capacitors? I am just curious.
They are obviously high-quality.
#1 by TRW. Very heavy, brass colored, 3 chassis mounting tabs,
built really like two capacitors, but on one frame. One 2-gang and
1 1-gang side by side with their 2 shafts coupled to another main
shaft by meshed gears. Looks like about 300 pF per section. Looks
also damn expensive. Ceramic insulation on the terminals. "Main
shaft ends in a shaft coupling which looks like it accepts a less than
1/4 inch shaft.
#2 4-gang, very shiney almost chrome-like finish, 1/4 inch very
short shaft - only about 1/4 inch long, coming out of it. Ceramic
insulation. 13 stator plates each section and 14 rotor plates, end
plates of each rotor section have 9 ! slots ( for bending to track.)
Also looks quality, like a Hammarlund or military receiver. Looks
also like 300+ pF per section.
Thanks-
