[Milsurplus] BC-745 in So. Pacific WW2

The Gilbert Islands group in the So. Pacific includes Tarawa. Less
known of this group is Makin Atoll, which includes Butaritari Island.
The book "Makin", by Historical Division U.S. War Dep't, has a photo
from Butaritari Island showing a Pogo Stick BC-745 resting stuck in
the sand. 20 Nov 43. Also shows Japanese transmitter building with
6 big 500 watt transmitters, somewhat taller than BC-610, and says
underground Japanese receiving station had 9 identical receivers 
( probably Special Type 92 ). I thought this was a minor island, but
by the region-wide communications ability, it seems like a major
communications hub.
