Got it. My unit is indeed  missing the battery holder and clips (someone may have pulled
them). I can now see how it would have attached to the SB. The connections are made via
wires...  what a kludge. Looks like a couple of Radio shack 2 D cell holders would fit and
work fine. I'll look tomorrow.  Thanks.

Also note that the TM fig 13 on page 16 shows the cover attached to the

I don't think I have a cover, but will have to look in another storage area to be sure.
