The JT-350 is really not that heavy a radio. If it had
a civilian, Hammarlund style case, the weight would
be well under the pain threshold. But that heavy
steel case must add at least 30 lbs. - which takes it up
above my own pain threshhold, at around 90+ lbs.
I also noticed the dial bandspread and markings are not
very good, altho maybe slightly better than the TCS. It
still has the 3.6, 3.7........7.1, 7.2 type of markings, and
small bandspread.
When i was contemplating this, viewing a JT-350, i
recalled reading in one of the surplus holy books
( the one with the photo and schematic, i think) where it
sez, "This makes a pretty good set for the novice". I still
cannot understand why - except maybe the weight prevented
the youngster from trading it for a model airplane, or pulling
the chassis and getting shocked.
Still, i wish i'd taken up the 2 previous offers of a JT-350
that i declined. By pulling the chassis, it is manageable as
a 1 person lift.
