Thanks for the info, Bruce! That confirms what I suspected about the
AN/PRC-66.

Did you get any interesting info on the history of the AN/ARC-27? At least
a few of us would be interested in reading of it.

The classic UHF command sets that were used just about everywhere in just
about everything for decades (such as the 1950s AN/ARC-27 and -55 series,
the 1960s AN/ARC-51 series, and the 1970s AN/ARC-164 series) will never get
the respect and interest that they deserve from most military radio
collectors, I fear.

Mike / KK5F

Hi Mike,
Many years ago, I spoke with the folks at Collins at length about the PRC-66
and the ARC-27 (can you believe one of the engineers who was on the tail end
of the ARC-27 saga was still there!!), anyway, I was told that the plan was
to incorporate a guard module but it never came to pass. I have owned about
6 of the things and as with yours, no guard module.

Has anyone ever come across an RT-865D/PRC-66 that contained the guard
channel (243 mcs) module, or come across these modules alone in surplus? I
have two RTs without this module, and I've been led to believe that this was
an optional module that was not often installed in these sets.

Thanks,
Mike / KK5F
