YIKES! I'm Busted! No getting anything by ya'll; too smart for me!
YES, I CONFESS... I am "modifying" a TBY.
A couple of them, in fact.
But wait! You know me- The "mod" consists of: Lifting the ends
of two capacitors and installing a "Borg Implant"
with a bit of Velcro.
That's all- No holes, no removed components and 100% restorable.
As you know, I don't get much time to work on stuff these days.
But one of my "hot buttons" is finding ways to use this equipment
without destroying it. The TBY was too big a challenge to ignore.
I've been tweaking on this off'n'on for a year.
I've already run a "proof of concept" and it works.
Just got to get the grid drive right.
I built a "Borg Implant" from a 3VDC relay, a 28.322 MC clock oscillator
module (only suitable one I had on hand) and an output transformer
wound on a toroid. The transformer gives me P-P grid drive.
The "improved" version will use a programmable oscillator module,
relayless switching and drive the TBY at 50.4 MC.
The finished board will be about 1 inch square.
I'll write it all up when it's finished.
Thanks again for the tube data, guys.

p.s. One note. I said "no removed components," but that
is only true of my intent. The mica caps I lifted turned
out to have bad leads; the copper seems to have "crystallized"
and they broke off where they were soldered to the terminals.
Can be reattached, but correct "period" micas for this radio
are not hard to find- I'll probably replace them.
