Robert's tale of woe is an excellent example of the folly of
major modifications to historic equipment. What he has now
is neither fish nor fowl, probably never worked at all
(much less "better") and was assigned to the junk box.
I don't recognize the mods, Robert. Do wish you luck
in the restoration.
