[Milsurplus] marking on R-388/URR

Greetings:

This thread reminds me of a question I've been meaning to ask ...

Do you (everyone/anyone) try to preserve these and other stamp markings,
like MFP, eagle stamps, etc. when refinishing or detailing a piece of gear?
I generally do, if I can.
