Group,

As Ken said, as shipped, BC-610-E's and later came with coils and tuning
units to cover 2.0-18.0 MC. BC-610-A through -D as shipped covered
2.0-8.0. There were three Frequency Conversion Kits supplied. MC-516
extended the range of the four early models to 12.0 MC. MC-517 extended
the range to 18.0 MC but was not usable in the 1-1/2 ton truck because of=

height restrictions on the BC-939 Antenna Tuner that came with the kit.

MC-509 extended the range down to 1.0 MC and was useable in all models
(A...I & T-213/GRC-26). What Henri-Paul is referring to are instructions=

furnished with the kit to disconnect one end of R9 whenever operating bel=
ow
2.0 MC. However, my BC-610-F was used on 770 KC (we had to modify the
TU-62 and pad the tank coil) by the LA Tech campus radio station WLPI fo=
r
about a year while I was in Vietnam. Not at the time having read the
instructions to disconnect R9, we of course didn't. And the RF choke
survived. But those RF chokes were probably a lot more plentiful in
1967/68 than they are today, plus "ignorance is bliss" no longer offers
protection, so I wouldn't recommend ignoring the instructions today. :-)=
