I was a cadet back in 1959 and we had a BC-610 for the squadron as well.
I remember riding in the group L-4 in the early 60's with a Gonset-II on
my lap and LTC Bill Gruehler driving. Power for the Gonset from a
battery under my feet and a wind charger in the strut. Can't imagine
doing that today :-)
Still in CAP, active as an IFR rated SAR Mission Pilot and NYWG Mission
Check Pilot. Lots of water over the dam (or is it wind through the
hair?) since the early days. There are two of us still in our local
group from that era.
