When I was in the Silverware Patrol, we hardly ever got a chance
to lay hands on the gear: the "adult" members wanted to play all
the time. I actually got a chance to do some traffic-passing on
the Texas net once, when I was about 13 and at Summer Encampment
at Amarillo AFB. Rode there and back, from Houston, on a C-119,
courtesy of the 433rd Troop Carrier Wing, MATS, out of Kelly AFB.
I _certainly_ remember the smell of the sagebrush in the morning,
and the howls of the coyotes at dusk and dawn.
Now I live near an airport with the following comment on its
approach plate in the state airport handbook: "Caution. Coyotes
on runways."
Who else here was in the Silverware Patrol?
