Nor could I at the time!  I was interested in WWII aircraft sets even
back than, so I asked the pilots if they used it.  They said they didn't
know anything about it.  They just used the AN/ARC-27.

All the main aircraft at BAFB (KC-135 and B-52) used the AN/ARC-58 at
that time for HF comms.

That would have been a great decision.  The BC-348 had to be less
expensive than a rack of RAX units, with a lighter and simpler
installation and likely better performance to boot.

No argument from me!  I don't know enough to start!

Unfortunately, I've never figured out exactly how one joins MRCG. 
Dennis sent me some email on it, but there was something about writing
some sort of letter that I didn't really understand.
